The Palace of the Republic

The Palace of the Republic is a major cultural landmark in Almaty, located at the foot of Kok Tobe Hill. Built in the 1970s, it hosts large concerts, festivals, official events, and performances by local and international artists. The building stands next to the monument to Abay Kunanbayev, the poet and thinker who played a key role in shaping Kazakh culture and national identity.
