The Assy Plateau Observatory sits on a vast alpine plain about 2–3 hours east of Almaty, at an altitude of over 2,700 meters. Surrounded by open grasslands and distant peaks, it’s one of Kazakhstan’s best spots for stargazing and astrophotography. The site combines scientific heritage with raw natural beauty, attracting both astronomers and travelers during the summer season.
Opening hours: Summer season, 09:00 – 20:00.
